QR Code Craze

I have become a bit obsessed with QR codes lately; To the point where I am coming up with business ideas in my head which involve the use of QR coding.

They are everywhere I turn. Yesterday I received this Dominoe's Pizza leaflet through my door and, as you can see below, even IT has a QR code on it! You can scan the code with your smartphone to order pizza.

I found these new release anime DVD's and they looked really cool. I automatically thought to myself, "Ok, I'll remember the title, go home, and watch the trailers for them online. If I like the trailers, I'll think about buying it."

Now you can just scan the QR codes on the back of the cases and the trailer comes up on your phone. I watched the trailer right there and then in the shop!(requires internet/wifi connection)

Amazing. Convenience + Great advertising.

These codes can be used by so many outlets and is an exciting preview of what the future holds for advertising.

SHAVE IT ALL!

So today I went to get my hair cut.

Long story short....She did a horrible job. Not at all what I wanted and it looked BAD.

So I came home and told Dave to just shave it all off!

Ta-daaaa!! It's like a whole new me :)

Gonna take some getting used to...But I'm liking it.

I also like that I have to use less shampoo and don't have to style it!

Now, I have to admit, I thought the monkey one was really cute...so I bought it! 12 pounds, bit pricey for Primark, but I figure, it's a whole outfit haha!

Wig Out Relaunch @ Ghetto Factory

Last night I went to the relaunch of Wig Out @ Ghetto Factory in Holborn with Ines & Jean.

There was a really good turnout, cheap drinks, a charity auction, some good classic pop tunes(although Michael Jackson, and Spice Girls were a bit overplayed and repeated), and a performance by Pete Burns!

Oh..and free badges! :D

We had a great time and I'm happy Wig Out is back and better than ever!

Heavy Metal Quilts by Ben Venom

Who says quilts have to look like "Little House on the Prairie"??

Not Ben Venom! He makes these large quilts out of heavy metal t-shirts. The one pictured above is called "Don't Wake Me Lucifer"(2010) and is 83" x 95".

Now all we need is a heavy metal lullaby :)

1st Ever Animated Tattoo

A tattoo artist based in Paris, France, by the name of K.A.R.L., has created the 1st "animated tattoo."
This was done by tattooing a matrix code, or QR code(Quick Response Code) into the tattoo which you could hold your smartphone over and discover a hidden animation, viewable right on your smartphone.

After viewing hundreds of entries at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, I can tell you 1st hand that Matrix codes will become a widely used method of delivering information in new, creative ways. Hundreds of agencies were using them, and those were only the ones that entered into the festival. One company at the festival promoted their "Post club night, hangover recovery drinks" using these codes in a nightclub. Everyone that went into the club got a code stamped on their arms which they could then hold their smartphones over to reveal a hidden code. Using the code, they could login online and get a free hangover recovery drink.

Matrix codes are not a brand new idea. They were actually created in Japan in 1994 by a Toyota subsidiary called Denso-Wave, and have been used heavily in Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands.

However, this is the 1st time I've seen it used in a permanent tattoo. Like K.A.R.L. says in the video, the segments have to be tattooed perfectly or else the code won't work, so it's a bit risky. I definately think it's an interesting concept that could definately open doors to bigger, better interactive creations, but how many people are really going to hold their smartphones against you to watch your tattoo animation? And how many times will you want to watch the same animation? And does it even look good?

What are your thoughts?

It's The Simple Things In Life....

As much as I love fashion, photography and music...and all the hobbies that these bring, there are simpler things in life that make me just as happy.

Grocery shopping is one of these. I don't know what it is about a grocery store, but it fills me with happiness. I can spend hours wandering the isles, reading labels, comparing prices, browsing everything from dvd's, to frozen fish. It never ceases to amaze me, nor do I get bored.

And when I find things that I haven't seen before...my jaw drops and I gasp and say "Ooh"

Here's 2 new treats I found this evening while shopping at Sainsbury's

Collective Gourmet Probiotic Yoghurt

As far as I know, these are the only 3 flavours sold at Sainsbury's: Passion Fruit, Russian Fudge and Apple+Spice. I've had Apple+Spice and it was amazing. I have a Passion Fruit one left in the fridge...Can't wait to try it. The yoghurt is so rich and creamy, and there's just enough fruit topping to balance it out and not overpower the yoghurt.

Ok, now this is just juice...BUT in addition to selling the regular fruit flavours(apple, orange, pineapple etc.) Sainsbury's have come up with a few new exciting, tropical fruit blends....FUN!

Introducing Apple, Strawberry & Lychee(which I am drinking as I type...love it) and Pineapple, Mango & Passion Fruit.

Are you as excited as I am?! Go get yourself some and indulge in these new sweet treats~!

Working with the jury

It's HOT in Cannes

Back from France

So one of the last blogs I wrote was about working in the Cannes Lions office. I was chosen to work with the Promo & Activation team overseas at the EMAP Cannes Lions Advertising International Festival of Creativity, which, for those of you who don't know, is the most prestigious award worldwide for advertising and the festival takes place once a year in Cannes, France. There were, I believe, over 28,000 entries, celebrity speakers and 15,000 + delegates and creatives coming from all over the world to be at this festival. It was quite an honour to work there and be a part of the event, and also a great opportunity to meet some amazing people within the industry(not to mention attending some amazing parties).
